Eternal Orchids.com
Thanks to everyone who visited us at the South Coast Plaza Fascination of Orchids Show.  We
enjoyed talking with each and everyone who stopped by.  We've posted pictures here some of
the award winning orchids for you to enjoy in case you couldn't make it to the show in person.

So, you bought a few plants (or maybe a few dozen) at the show.  But how many times has it
happened before that your new plant looked great but slowly died over a couple months, no
matter how much love and attention you gave it?  Some plants that may have been shipped in
from overseas (within a few days before the show) with different climates from what we have
here in Southern California may not have had a chance to fully acclimate to its new home.  This
can be a particular problem for plants that came from hotter tropical climates.  Keep a close eye
on how well your plants are doing over the next few weeks.  To the extent that is possible, try to
help your new additions feel welcome in their new home by giving them a period of transition
where you offer them a warmer setting at first.  Gradually adjust the environment over a period
of about 8 weeks to our Southern California climate.

After the show had ended and we were packing up, we had one of our favorite suppliers from
Hawaii come by and offered us a fantastic deal on some plants that he had out on a display, but
he didn't want to bother tearing them down and shipping them back.  These plants were not
leftovers that nobody wanted to buy during the show, but were some of his best plants he had
put out as a display.  As such, they were never available for sale.  Fortunately we have bought
numerous plants from this vendor before, and they always are healthy and adapt readily to their
new home in Southern California.  Now that the show is over, we are offering these plants for
$12 each plus shipping.  For a minimum order of 5 plants, we will ship for free or personally
deliver within 50 miles of Huntington Beach.  You can see the flats of these plants on our
Plants
Only page.  You can be assured that these plants are all of the highest quality and are very
healthy.

Finally, with all the rain we are getting, it is important to remember two things.  First is that
rainwater is the best thing to water your plants with.  Place a bucket outside to collect some
rainwater.  Then, carefully water your plants.  Pour the water on the base of the plant near the
roots.  Try to avoid getting water on a bloom, as this may lead to spotting of the flower.  Also,
try to avoid water collecting in the folds of the leaves, as this can lead to crown rot, and the
untimely demise of your orchid.  For this reason, we do not recommend placing orchids that
normally grow indoors outside in the rain.
